Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has stressed the need of taking advantage from modern emerging technologies to ensure prosperity and development of the country. 

Addressing a discussion session of “Margalla Dialogue” in Islamabad today, she said Artificial Intelligence is not just related to IT, technology, or economic efficiency, but AI is a conversation about national security, geo-strategic influence and how every aspect of our life is affected by latest technology.

The Minister said embracing AI is not just an option, but it is essentially a concern for our sovereignty and future sustainable prosperity. She said today, there is competition among data, codes, algorithms and computing powers.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja Pakistan has immense potential in the form of human resource and enjoy very crucial strategic position on the global map.

She said the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is hundred percent committed to ensure to increase our produce in AI, Information Technology and in software and hardware.

Mentioning the courageous leadership of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, she said besides conventional war, cyber warfare also played a crucial role in recent war with India. 

She said recently the AI policy has been passed by the federal government at national level which capitulates all the challenges of AI and cyber threat.

She said the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has successfully laid the foundation of high performing computing infrastructure, launching of national intelligence advancement initiative and supporting the private sector to build the capability to ensure that Pakistan is ready in terms of the emerging technologies.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government has also taken a number of initiatives for promotion of AI, IT and latest technologies in the country.
