Pakistani-American judge Zahid Qureshi has taken over as district judge. According to a foreign news agency, Zahid Qureshi’s swearing-in ceremony took place in New Jersey, after which he took over as US district judge.
Zahid Qureshi is the first Muslim in US history to be appointed to a federal bench by President Biden. Zahid Qureshi has been serving as a magistrate judge for three years.
Governor Murphy, Senator Corey Booker and Senator Menendez have praised the president’s move.
