UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for a substantial increase in financing to the developing countries for adaptation resilience, to counter the negative effects of climate change.

In an interview with PTV, he said 300 billion dollars are required for adaptation of the developing countries.

Talking about the destruction caused by floods in Pakistan, the UN Chief said he has no words to describe what he saw, as the flooded area is three times larger than his own country Portugal.

He said it is an unprecedented natural disaster, clearly caused by climate change.

Antonio Guterres said the world has the responsibility to massively support Pakistan, as it is a human tragedy of an enormous dimension and the country alone does not have the resources to make its people and economy recover from the disaster.
