- Mr. Khawaja Ahmad Hassan (Adviser to Prime Minister) and Dr. Hafiz Zafar Iqbal (International Weightlifter & IWF Referee/Technical Official) were respectively designated as Patron-in-Chief and Patron of the Punjab Weightlifting Association. Barrister Maryam Sharaf Hayat, Advocate High Court and Human Rights Activist was also designated as Legal Adviser.
- Elections of Punjab Weightlifting Association were held on Saturday, 8th July 2023, at Lahore, under supervision of an Election Commission, headed by Mr. Rafaqat Ali Sohal, Advocate, Secretary Punjab Bar Council, with Mr. Muhammad Azam Mian (Olympian) and Mr. Najm-us-Saeed (National Weightlifter & Intl Official) as members.
- The elections were attended by Mr. Shuja-ud-Din Malik (TI) (Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist & Record Holder), who represented the Interim Committee. Dr. Hafiz Zafar Iqbal, Mr. Irfan Islam (Commonwealth Games Silver Medalist & Record Holder) and large number of independent observers and sportspersons also witnessed the process of free and fair elections.
- The Interim Committee congratulated the elected office bearers; and advised them to ensure clean weightlifting, with right of play/ participation on merit to all weightlifters.
