In a historic achievement for Pakistan’s digital growth, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has proudly announced the crossing of major national milestones: 200 million telecom subscribers, 150 million broadband subscribers, and 2 million Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) subscribers.

To commemorate this significant milestone in Pakistan’s digital evolution, PTA is celebrating with the public through a series of nationwide initiatives aimed at promoting digital inclusion, empowering women, and enhancing connectivity for students.

Free Data & Minutes for All Mobile Subscribers on June 20

As a token of appreciation to the nation, PTA, in collaboration with all mobile operators, is offering 2GB of free data and 200 on-net voice minutes, valid for 24 hours on June 20, 2025.
Subscribers can activate the offer by dialing short code *2200# on any mobile network.

This initiative reflects PTA’s ongoing commitment to providing affordable digital access and celebrating Pakistan’s growing digital landscape.

Empowering Women Through Technology

In a major step toward promoting digital inclusion and gender equity, 200 locally assembled smartphones will be distributed to female SIM owners across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The winners will be selected through a computerized transparent balloting process, and the list will be announced via PTA’s official social media channels.

This effort underscores PTA’s vision of bridging the gender digital divide by giving women greater access to mobile technology and digital services.

Free Wi-Fi Hotspots in Universities to Boost Student Connectivity

To further digital empowerment in the education sector, PTA is deploying free Wi-Fi hotspots for six months at selected HEC-recognized universities, including women-only institutions.

The list of participating universities will be published on PTA’s official platforms. The initiative aims to provide seamless internet access to students, enabling them to participate in digital learning and innovation with enhanced connectivity.

Partners in Pakistan’s Digital Journey

PTA extended its gratitude to its partners from across the telecom and broadband industry whose collaboration made these milestones possible. These include:
Jazz, Zong, Ufone, Telenor, PTCL, Cybernet, Wateen, Transworld, Nayatel, and Pakistan’s Mobile Device Manufacturing Industry.

Towards a Digitally Empowered Pakistan

This milestone celebration reflects Pakistan’s strong momentum in digital transformation, driven by policy reforms, infrastructure investments, local manufacturing, and broad public adoption.

PTA Chairman stated, “These numbers aren’t just statistics; they represent a digitally connected and empowered Pakistan. Today, we celebrate this achievement with the very people who made it possible — our citizens.”
