Furqan Ahmad (16 years old young weightlifter) demonstrates excellent display of strength, agility, power and confidence to win maiden gold medal for Punjab at the weightlifting event of the 35th National Games Karachi.
He belongs to Gujranwala and was trained by national coach Shuja ud Din Malik (Commonwealth Games Record Holder and Tamgh i Imtiaz).
He participated in the 88 kg category and lifted 144 kg in snatch and 171 kg in clean & jerk event, with a total of 315 kg to claim his victory against his experienced and seasoned rivals from Army, Police, Wapda, Railways, HEC and other provinces.
It is unfortunate that Furqan Ahmad was not sent to participate in the 3rd Youth Asian Games Bahrain in October 2025, where he could win two medals for Pakistan.
If he is given equal the opportunity and foreign training, he may win medal for Pakistan in the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The government support may help Furqan earn laurels fir Pakistan.
