Attorney General of Pakistan, Malik Mansoor Usman Awan, addressed a “Meet the Press” program at the District Press Club Joharabad, where he shed detailed light on the global political situation and ongoing development initiatives in District Khushab.
He stated that Pakistan is currently playing an important mediatory role in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran, emphasizing that resolving this conflict is essential for achieving sustainable economic stability in the region.
Speaking about District Khushab, he said that this historic district had fallen behind in development due to the unfair distribution of resources and lack of attention in the past. However, he affirmed that eliminating backwardness in Khushab is now a top priority, and practical steps have already begun.
He informed that rehabilitation work on the sewerage system is underway in Joharabad and Khushab city, while modern sewerage projects will soon be initiated in Mitha Tiwana and Hadali. He further stated that the Ring Road project in Tehsil Nowshera is nearing completion, which will promote tourism, trade, and agricultural activities.
Regarding agricultural development, he said that lift irrigation schemes are under consideration for inclusion in the Annual Development Programme (ADP). These projects will bring 22,000 acres of land under cultivation. In the next phase, efforts will be made to irrigate an additional 15,000 acres, bringing the total to 37,000 acres of barren land that will become cultivable, significantly contributing to food self-sufficiency.
Highlighting youth development, he announced that the charter for the Khushab University of Emerging Sciences and Technology is in the approval stages and will be included in the ADP, after which formal progress on the project will begin. He stressed the need to focus on IT and technical education instead of traditional fields to enable young people to secure dignified employment.
Reaffirming his commitment, Malik Mansoor Usman Awan said that transforming Khushab into a model district in terms of health, education, and infrastructure remains a top priority, and all available resources will be utilized to achieve this goal.
