Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated that Pakistan wants peace, but if war is imposed, it would be met with intense and decisive response.

He was speaking at a ceremony regarding the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, organized by the Press Association of Supreme Court in Islamabad today.

Attaullah Tarar said the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces during Marka-e-Haq.

He said the success is achieved through national unity and cohesion.

The Information Minister said Pakistan achieved distinction and victory on the narrative, diplomatic and military fronts by the grace of Allah Almighty.

He further said that Pakistan Air Force and the country’s air defence system proved their prowess at the global level, with downing of Rafale aircraft.

He said the defeat shattered India’s arrogance and earned international recognition and praise for Pakistan.

Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan’s armed forces delivered such an effective response that the enemy was forced to retreat within hours.

He said after Pakistan’s strong response, India sought a ceasefire and Pakistan agreed to it despite having an upper hand in the conflict as Pakistan wanted peace and dialogue.

He said the whole world now views Pakistan as a symbol of peace.

The Minister said the victory also created a sense of pride among overseas Pakistanis who proudly displayed their Pakistani passports.

He also praised journalists and media organizations for their responsible and historic role during Marka-e-Haq, saying Pakistani media earned global appreciation as a matured and responsible media contrary to Indian media, which made baseless claims during the war.

Attaullah Tarar said the entire nation, including youth, social media users, journalists, lawyers, engineers and doctors, played a proactive role on the narrative front. He particularly appreciated the role of the young generation in using memes and social media to counter hostile propaganda.

Attaullah Tarar attributed the success to the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the courageous leadership and military strategy of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

He also praised the leadership of Air Chief, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Navel Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf for the professional preparedness and performance of the armed forces.

He termed the ceremony marking the victory of Marka-e-Haq a positive tradition and said the success symbolized national pride, unity and solidarity.

Later, a cake-cutting ceremony was also held to mark the event.
