The district administrations of Sargodha and Khushab jointly organized a mock exercise along the banks of River Jhelum to prepare for any possible flood emergency. Teams and officials from Rescue 1122, Revenue Department, Police, Health Department, Livestock Department, Civil Defence, Irrigation Department, and other relevant institutions participated in the exercise.
DCR Sargodha Ahmad Haroon and ADC Revenue Khushab Abdullah Khan reviewed the mock exercise in detail and inspected the precautionary and administrative arrangements made by both districts around River Jhelum. During the exercise, practical demonstrations were carried out regarding relief activities, evacuation procedures, rescue operations, medical assistance, use of machinery, and emergency response measures in case of a flood situation.
The officers directed all concerned departments to remain on high alert during the monsoon season and ensure that all necessary machinery, staff, and resources remain fully prepared at all times so that timely and effective action can be taken in any emergency situation.
They stated that the protection of life and property of the public is the top priority of the administration and emphasized that strong coordination and a comprehensive strategy among all departments are essential for dealing with any disaster. They further said that the purpose of the mock exercise was to assess the preparedness, operational capacity, and rapid response capability of all concerned institutions to effectively cope with any possible flood threat.
