In line with the vision and directives of Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab Chairman Mian Muhammad Hanif (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), a delegation of prominent journalists from the Pakistan Media Writers Club visited the Provincial Headquarters and various welfare centers of the organization. The visit was hosted by Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab Managing Committee members Abdul Majeed Chaudhry and Professor Dr. Shaukat Ali.
Following the visit, an extensive briefing session was held in which Acting Secretary of Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab, Rao Zaka-ur-Rehman, highlighted the organization’s ongoing humanitarian activities, infrastructure expansion, and community development projects.
The delegation included Pakistan Media Writers Club Chairman Iftikhar Khan, Secretary Nabeela Akbar, Visit Coordinator and Editor of Monthly Phool Muhammad Shoaib Mirza, Fazal Hussain Awan, Nadeem Nazar, Shehzad Chaudhry, Syed Badr Saeed, Aqeel Anjum Awan, Salman Hameed Khokhar, Rabia Azmat, Farzana Chaudhry, Iqra Mughal, Asim Latif Chaudhry, Tehzeen Tahir, Dr. Faiza Tariq, Usman Haider, Muhammad Ammar Khan, and others.
Introducing the club, Chairman Iftikhar Khan stated that the Pakistan Media Writers Club is committed to promoting the positive message and services of organizations working for the welfare and betterment of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Shoaib Mirza praised the services of the Pakistan Red Crescent and emphasized the importance of creating greater public awareness about blood donation, particularly for children suffering from thalassemia who require regular blood transfusions.
During the briefing, officials highlighted a unique heritage preservation project under which the Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab is conserving its more than 100-year-old historic building in its original form and transforming it into a “Red Cross–Red Crescent Museum.” The museum will preserve over a century of humanitarian history while serving as an educational and cultural center.
Managing Committee members Abdul Majeed Chaudhry and Professor Dr. Shaukat Ali paid tribute to the leadership of Chairman Mian Muhammad Hanif (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), stating that every initiative undertaken by the Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab reflects his vision, commitment, and dedication to public service. They reaffirmed the Managing Committee’s resolve to advance the organization’s welfare mission with transparency and diligence.
Addressing the media delegation, Acting Secretary Rao Zaka-ur-Rehman said, “Our objective is to provide timely and high-quality relief to those suffering from hardship. The construction of a modern 250-bed wing at the PRCS Teaching Hospital is in its final stages. State-of-the-art CT Scan and MRI machines are being installed to bring diagnostic services up to international standards, while the establishment of dialysis centers is also a key component of our healthcare agenda.”
The delegation was also given a practical overview of the free facilities being provided to patients at the Thalassemia Center, special OPD and IPD programs for the transgender community, the construction of 26 houses in Chiniot for flood-affected families, and the implementation of the Early Action Protocol in preparation for the upcoming monsoon season.
Discussing future plans, Rao Zaka-ur-Rehman said that a two-month Summer Mentorship Program for university students has been launched to prepare the younger generation for humanitarian service and community engagement.
The media delegation appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab Managing Committee and administration, describing their initiatives as a significant contribution to the promotion of human welfare, public health, and humanitarian values across the province.
At the conclusion of the event, the Pakistan Media Writers Club presented commemorative shields to Managing Committee members Abdul Majeed Chaudhry and Professor Dr. Shaukat Ali, Acting Secretary Rao Zaka-ur-Rehman, and Blood Group In-Charge Fauzia Saeed. In return, the Pakistan Red Crescent Punjab honored all members of the media delegation with awards in recognition of their services in promoting public awareness and social responsibility.
