The Punjab Counter Narcotics Office was formally inaugurated in Khushab during a ceremony held with due official protocol.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Director General Punjab Counter Narcotics Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber, and District Police Officer (DPO) Khushab Dr. Ammara Shirazi attended as chief guests.
Deputy Director Punjab Counter Narcotics Major (Retired) Atif Ilyas Lodhi welcomed the distinguished guests, presented bouquets, and received them with a guard of honor. The national anthem was played, after which DPO Khushab Dr. Ammara Shirazi formally inaugurated the Punjab Counter Narcotics Office by cutting the ribbon.
District In-charge Punjab Counter Narcotics Major (Retired) Atif Ilyas Lodhi briefed the guests on the office’s objectives, responsibilities, and operational performance.
Addressing the ceremony, Director General Punjab Counter Narcotics Brigadier Mazhar Iqbal said that, on the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, effective measures are being taken to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs. He emphasized that eliminating drug abuse from society and taking indiscriminate action against drug traffickers remain among the Punjab government’s highest priorities.
He further directed that a comprehensive public awareness campaign be launched to educate citizens about the dangers of narcotics. He also appealed to the public to promptly report any suspicious drug-related activities to the Counter Narcotics Department.
On the occasion, the Director General Punjab Counter Narcotics and the Deputy Commissioner Khushab planted a sapling under the office’s tree plantation campaign.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the peace, prosperity, and security of Pakistan, as well as for the success of the anti-narcotics campaign.
