Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said Türkiye is an important strategic technology partner in the modernization, industrial development and innovation of Pakistan Railways.
He made the remarks during his visit to Turkiye during which he visited the country’s largest state-owned railway manufacturer, TÜRASAS and leading defence and high-technology company ASELSAN.
Hanif Abbasi said that the digital transformation of Pakistan Railways, modern traffic management, fibre-optic communication systems and safe railway operations are among the government’s top priorities.
He said Pakistan Railways is being transformed into a more efficient, safer and competitive railway system through the adoption of modern technologies.
The Minister said advanced railway technologies are essential for the successful implementation of ML-1, ML-3, and Islamabad–Tehran–Istanbul (ITI) Freight Corridor projects.
Discussions were held between Pakistan Railways, TÜRASAS and ASELSAN on technology transfer, joint manufacturing, and the modernization of rolling stock.
The two sides also explored opportunities for cooperation in advanced signaling, telecommunications, cybersecurity and automatic train control. They also discussed upgrading Carriage Factory Islamabad and Pakistan Railways’ workshops with modern technologies.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of engineers’ training, technical skills transfer, research, cybersecurity and human resource development.
