A meeting of the District Coordination Committee for Development, Khushab, was held under the joint chairmanship of Convener of the Development Committee and former Member of the Provincial Assembly Malik Karam Elahi Bandial and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber. The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects, the Suthra Punjab Program, clean drinking water initiatives, law and order, governance, and other key administrative matters across the district.
The meeting was attended by Member of the National Assembly Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Member of the Provincial Assembly Malik Muhammad Asif Bhah Awan, Coordinator to MPA Sardar Zafar Khan Baloch, Sardar Sajid Khan Baloch, along with senior officers from the relevant government departments.
Convener Malik Karam Elahi Bandial briefed the participants on the district’s ongoing development activities and other important issues. Officials from the Development Department, the Suthra Punjab Program, the Irrigation Department, and the Clean Water Authority presented detailed updates on their respective projects, while Punjab Police officials informed the meeting about the prevailing law and order situation in the district.
During the meeting, MNA Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, MPA Malik Muhammad Asif Bhah Awan, and Sardar Sajid Khan Baloch discussed development schemes in their respective constituencies. They stated that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had allocated billions of rupees for the development and prosperity of District Khushab. They described the launch of the Punjab Development Program in Khushab as a historic initiative that would further accelerate development activities across the district.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Laber directed all relevant departments to complete the Punjab Development Program and other ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe so that the public could benefit from them without delay. He emphasized that no compromise would be made on the quality of construction materials or workmanship and instructed officials to ensure both timely completion and high construction standards.
MPA Malik Muhammad Asif Bhah Awan informed the meeting that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had also approved the construction of 10-kilometre roads on both sides of the Shawala Drain, along with the installation of streetlights. He said that millions of rupees had been allocated for the project and added that the construction of retaining walls on both sides of the drain was already underway under the Punjab Development Program.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed all government departments to improve their performance in line with the Chief Minister’s instructions and provide maximum relief to the public. He also stressed the importance of regular monitoring of development projects to ensure both quality and timely execution.
The meeting was informed that billions of rupees had been allocated under the Punjab Development Program for District Khushab, enabling the implementation of development projects in multiple sectors.
