A ceremony was held at the Maryam Nawaz School for Special Children, Centre of Excellence, Government Special Education Centre, Noorpur Thal, to distribute assistive and special devices among students with disabilities on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The ceremony was attended by Malik Muhammad Iqbal Khan Sunbal, special representative of Member of the Provincial Assembly Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan, as the chief guest.

On the occasion, Head of the Institution Inayatullah Khan Niazi briefed the chief guest about the facilities being provided to special students by the Punjab Government’s Special Education Department, as well as the modern computer laboratory established at the institution. He said that a team of highly qualified professionals was working with dedication and commitment for the rehabilitation and development of children with special needs.

He further stated that an admission campaign was underway and that employees were visiting homes to encourage parents to enroll their special children in the institution. He appealed to the residents of Noorpur Thal Tehsil to enroll their children so that they could receive quality education, training and rehabilitation and become productive members of society.

Inayatullah Khan Niazi said that the institution was providing various facilities under the initiative of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, including Himmat Cards, free pick-and-drop services, free uniforms, free books and free assistive devices, besides other educational and rehabilitation facilities.

Addressing the ceremony, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Khan Sunbal conveyed special thanks from MPA Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for providing facilities and assistive devices to children with special needs and for granting the Government Special Education Centre, Noorpur Thal, the status of a Centre of Excellence. He also paid tribute to the Chief Minister for her initiatives for the welfare of special children and announced that Sardar Zafar Abbas Khan would continue to extend full support for the further development of the institution.

Later, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Khan Sunbal distributed wheelchairs, walking canes, crutches, toilet seats, Braille alphabets, walkers and other assistive devices among the special students. Cash prizes were also distributed among the children.
Prominent educationist Malik Abdul Hameed Jasra, Tasveer Haider, Malik Ulfat Hussain Sial, students, parents, social workers and people from various walks of life attended the ceremony.

The event concluded with special prayers for the security, peace and prosperity of Pakistan, followed by the distribution of refreshments among the special students.
