Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world observed India’s Independence Day as a Black Day to protest India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the call to observe Black Day was given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
Kashmiris living across the world also held anti-India demonstrations to draw international attention to the ongoing atrocities committed by India in the occupied territory.
Anti-India demonstrations and rallies were also held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and across Pakistan to express solidarity with the oppressed people of the occupied territory.
Meanwhile, pro-freedom leaders and organizations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have said that India has illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir against the wishes of its people and, therefore, has no legal or moral right to celebrate its Independence Day in the occupied territory.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar, said that India has subjected Kashmiris to brutal repression for demanding their UN-recognized right to self-determination.
He described India as an occupying and aggressor state, saying that it maintained control over Jammu and Kashmir solely through military force and deprived Kashmiris of their fundamental rights in an attempt to silence their voices.
In Muzaffarabad, a rally in connection with Black Day was taken out by the APHC AJK chapter and Passban-e-Hurriyet.
The participants, carrying banners and placards, marched on the main roads and chanted pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
The speakers said India has no right to observe Independence Day because it has deprived Kashmiris of their fundamental rights.
A rally was also taken out in Neelam city.
