A dignified seminar on the rights, dignity and welfare of senior citizens was organized by Handle Foundation (Registered), Sargodha, in connection with International Older Persons Day. The seminar was presided over by Mumtaz Ahmad Deo, Provincial Ombudsman Punjab, while Imran Abbas Chadhar, SP Investigation Sargodha, was the chief guest. Dr. Arshad Shahid, Shazia Bangash, Sughra Alam and Dr. Raziya Sultan were the guests of honour.
Addressing the ceremony, Mumtaz Ahmad Deo said that senior citizens are a valuable asset to society and a treasure of experience. He said that protecting their rights, dignity and security is the collective responsibility of everyone.
Imran Abbas Chadhar said that senior citizens are the custodians of family and social values. He stressed the need to educate the younger generation about respecting and serving their elders.
Other speakers, including Dr. Arshad Shahid, Shazia Noreen, Sughra Alam, Dr. Raziya Sultan and Sahil Raj, emphasized the need to provide senior citizens with better healthcare, social protection, recreational facilities and opportunities to lead dignified lives.
Malik Aftab Ahmad Awan, Chairman of Handle Foundation, said that the foundation would continue taking practical steps for the welfare of senior citizens. He said the purpose of the Seniors Club is to provide elderly people with a dignified, healthy and active social environment.
The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Hamza, followed by Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool ﷺ presented by Asia Maqbool. Renowned academic personality Irfan Akbar Chaudhry performed the duties of stage secretary in an excellent manner.
