A Glimpse into the Personality of Khushab’s Renowned Poet, Researcher, and Historian Imtiaz Hussain Imtiaz

The land of Khushab has always been fertile in the fields of knowledge and literature, research and history, and poetry and prose. This soil has produced numerous distinguished individuals who illuminated not only their region but the entire country through their intellect and writing. Among these prominent personalities stands the respected name of renowned poet, researcher, and historian Imtiaz Hussain Imtiaz, who has given a new dimension to Khushab’s literary and intellectual tradition.

Imtiaz Hussain Imtiaz was born on December 25, 1964, in Khushab. He completed his postgraduate studies in Punjabi from the University of the Punjab. With a deep passion for Punjabi literature, he established himself not only as a distinguished poet but also as a significant researcher and historian.
One of his most important works is History of District Khushab, which was published by the Punjabi Adabi Board in two editions, in 1989 and 2018. This scholarly work has played a vital role in preserving the history of the district. In recognition of his literary contributions, he was honored with the Masood Khaddar Posh Award.

In the field of poetry, he is widely recognized as a prominent Punjabi poet, and the “Kafi” has become his distinctive genre. His poetry reflects themes of love, humanity, regional culture, historical consciousness, and national awareness. His style is simple yet impactful. Rather than merely playing with words, he conveys messages of social issues, moral values, and intellectual awakening through his verses. His poetry carries both classical elements and modern sensibilities, granting him a unique position among contemporary poets.

As an independent researcher, he has worked on various historical subjects, including Ibn Battuta: History of All Districts of Pakistan. He also provided research assistance for the television program Khabarnaak alongside Aftab Iqbal.

His command of languages is another notable strength. He is proficient in Punjabi and Sindhi and is also capable of reading and writing the Gurmukhi script, reflecting the breadth of his scholarly pursuits.

He has received awards at the Sargodha Division level as well. Furthermore, during the visit of World Bank President Ajay Banga to Khushab, he was awarded and honored by the Deputy Commissioner for identifying the ancestral properties and a historic gurdwara associated with Mr. Banga’s forefathers and for providing verified data to the district administration. In addition, he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the District Media Club Khushab.

Imtiaz Hussain Imtiaz is a multidimensional personality. His participation in literary gatherings and academic forums serves as a source of encouragement for the younger generation. He consistently emphasizes the promotion of reading, positive thinking, and research-oriented attitudes.
