
Another remarkable honor has been achieved by a talented son of Khushab. Renowned poet and writer Wilayat Ahmad Farooqi has been awarded a certificate of “Best Poet and Writer” by the Punjab Arts Council Sheikhupura. Public, social, educational, literary, and journalistic circles have expressed their congratulations and best wishes on this achievement.
The land of Khushab, which has produced countless talented individuals serving the nation in various fields, holds a unique and distinguished identity at national, regional, and international levels. This fertile region, enriched with peace, love, and a strong sense of patriotism, continues to contribute notable personalities dedicated to the service of the country and the nation.
In the field of literature and knowledge, Lahore-based poet, writer, and Director of Pakistan Adabi Forum, Wilayat Ahmad Farooqi, needs no introduction. He has consistently presented the positive and beautiful image of Khushab on every platform.
On the occasion of the annual Urs of the legendary creator of the world-famous love story Heer Waris Shah, Pir Syed Waris Shah, a “Waris Shah Punjabi Conference” was organized in Sheikhupura by the Punjab Arts Council under the directives of the Punjab Ministry of Information and Culture, with the cooperation of the district administration.
The conference was attended by poets, writers, teachers, students, researchers, and social personalities. Speakers emphasized the importance of introducing Waris Shah’s Heer to the younger generation. Poets also presented their Punjabi poetry to promote the Punjabi language and culture, receiving great appreciation.
On this occasion, Wilayat Ahmad Farooqi, who participated in the conference, was awarded the “Best Poet and Writer” certificate by Director Punjab Arts Council Sheikhupura Afraz Ahmad and prominent Punjabi language and literature figure Chaudhry Ilyas Ghuman. This achievement is undoubtedly a matter of pride for District Khushab.
It is noteworthy that whenever Wilayat Ahmad Farooqi receives such honors, he humbly dedicates them to Khushab, acknowledging that it was the encouragement and guidance of its people thirty years ago that shaped his journey.
