Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr Jahanzeb Hussain Laber, chaired a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Conference Hall to review preparedness for possible flooding, monsoon rains, hill torrents, and other emergency situations.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Khushab Tariq Mahmood Gul, Managing Director WASA Imran Ali Bajwa, Executive Engineer Irrigation Ali Raza, Rescue 1122 In-charge Ali Hussain, Suthra Punjab In-charge Saim Waris, Assistant Director Punjab Development Programme Qasim Lali, and officers from other relevant departments.
During the meeting, Managing Director WASA Imran Ali Bajwa, Executive Engineer Irrigation Ali Raza, and Rescue 1122 In-charge Ali Hussain briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the current situation regarding potential flooding, monsoon rainfall, hill torrents, canals, rivers, drainage arrangements, sanitation measures, rescue operations, and emergency preparedness. They informed the meeting that all concerned departments are on high alert and have ensured the availability of the required machinery, manpower, and resources to respond promptly to any emergency.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Jahanzeb Hussain Laber directed all relevant departments, including Rescue 1122, WASA, Municipal Committees, the Irrigation Department, and other agencies, to strengthen coordination and communication to ensure a swift and effective response to any emergency.
He instructed officials to keep all machinery, equipment, and rescue resources fully operational, maintain field teams on alert, and ensure immediate access to affected areas and timely relief operations in the event of floods or heavy rainfall.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that the district administration is taking every possible measure to safeguard the lives and property of the public and urged all departments to perform their responsibilities with complete coordination. He also directed that the District Control Room remain operational round the clock to ensure immediate action on any emergency report.
Concluding the meeting, Dr Jahanzeb Hussain Laber instructed all departments to remain fully vigilant throughout the monsoon season and ensure complete preparedness to deal with any emergency while prioritising the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
