The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced SMEConnect, a centralized digital platform designed to make it easier for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country to access financing.

Available at https://smeconnect.sbp.org.pk, the platform will serve as a single digital window through which SMEs can submit loan applications to banks and development finance institutions (DFIs). The SBP said it will improve the application process and help increase access to SME financing, as well as its efficiency and transparency.

SMEConnect will not only simplify the loan application process but also allow applicants to track the status of their applications in a timely manner. If an application is rejected, applicants will be informed of the reasons for the rejection.

The platform also features a live dashboard that will give the SBP a clear and complete view of SME loan applications and their progress. The dashboard will provide timely data on applications received, processed, approved, disbursed and rejected, for each individual bank or DFI as well as for the industry as a whole.

From 1 November 2026, all SME loan applications will be accepted only through SMEConnect. Applicants who approach bank or DFI branches or websites to apply for SME loans will be directed to the platform.

All banks and DFIs have been instructed to display the SMEConnect link prominently on their websites to help customers apply for SME loans. They have also been directed to ensure that their SME lending teams and field staff are fully aware of and familiar with the platform, so they can guide and assist applicants in applying for financing through SMEConnect. A training video is also available on the portal to help SME applicants understand the application process.

The launch of SMEConnect reflects the SBP’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion, supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening the ecosystem for SME financing, in order to achieve inclusive economic growth.
