At least fifteen people, including six policemen, were martyred in a suicide bombing near Kabal Police Station in Swat on Sunday, according to local administration and police officials.

Malakand Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Fida Hussain said the suicide bomber attempted to enter Kabal Police Station but was stopped by officers on duty. The attacker then detonated the explosives near the station’s main gate.

Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Omar said the explosion occurred near Kabal Chowk. He added that a human head recovered from the blast site is believed to belong to the suspected suicide bomber.

According to the DIG, a protest by local youths was underway in the area when the explosion took place.

Earlier, police officials had reported that the blast injured multiple people and warned that casualties were feared. Authorities are continuing to assess the situation and investigate the incident.
