Regional Head of the Federal Ombudsman’s Regional Office Sargodha, Khawaja Saif-ur-Rehman, has said that the Federal Ombudsman is providing effective facilities to the public for the redressal of complaints against federal government departments and institutions. He said the entire team of the Federal Ombudsman is working diligently to resolve public grievances.
He was speaking during the special programme “Meri Pehchan Pakistan” broadcast by Radio Pakistan Sargodha. He briefed listeners in detail about the Federal Ombudsman, its jurisdiction, the procedure for filing complaints and the mechanism for resolving public grievances.
Khawaja Saif-ur-Rehman said that under the leadership of Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, Naveed Kamran Baloch, the institution is actively working to provide relief to citizens. He said that more than 180 federal departments and institutions fall within the jurisdiction of the Federal Ombudsman, and citizens can lodge complaints regarding these institutions.
He explained that the procedure for filing a complaint is very simple. Citizens can submit an application written on plain paper at the Federal Ombudsman Regional Office in Sargodha. Complaints can also be filed online through the Federal Ombudsman’s mobile application. Citizens can contact 1055 for general complaints and 1056 for complaints concerning children.
The Regional Head said that the Federal Ombudsman was established in 1983 and has established regional offices in different parts of the country to facilitate citizens in the redressal of their complaints.
Regarding the performance of the Sargodha Regional Office, he said that approximately 3,142 complaints were received during June and July, out of which around 3,064 complaints were disposed of, while the implementation rate of the decisions remained approximately 82 percent.
He further stated that during June and July, approximately 162,514 complaints were received by the Federal Ombudsman across the country, of which 150,307 complaints were disposed of, with an overall implementation rate of approximately 84 percent.

During the programme, a large number of Radio Pakistan Sargodha listeners called in and shared their complaints and problems. Several complaints, particularly concerning the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and WAPDA, were raised. The representative of the Federal Ombudsman provided the callers with the necessary information and guidance.
The listeners appreciated Radio Pakistan Sargodha’s efforts to highlight public issues and bring them to the attention of the relevant departments. They urged the Radio Pakistan management to continue organising such awareness and public complaint-based programmes regularly so that citizens could receive further assistance in resolving their problems.
