Shahzaib displayed outstanding performance to win the Independence Cup Squash Tournament organized by the Sargodha Division Squash Association. Anas Asif secured the runner-up position, while Usman finished third.
In the girls’ event, Aneeba emerged as the champion, while Kanaz-ul-Iman finished second and Ayesha Zainab secured third position. A total of 27 players participated in the tournament. The girls’ matches were played at the Squash Complex, while the boys’ matches and the final were held at the Gymkhana Club.
At the impressive prize distribution ceremony of the Independence Cup Squash Tournament, chief guest Muhammad Atif Sindhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Municipal Services) and Managing Director of Suthra Punjab, distributed shields among the successful players.
President Sargodha Division Squash Association Chaudhry Waris Nadeem Waraich, Director Administration Tariq Awan and Shahab Khan welcomed the chief guest. Senior Vice President Wasim Jaffer Naqvi, Dr. Atiqa Rehan, Raja Asad, Yasir Waraich, Amir Chaudhry, Fakhar Makkan and Junaid Khan, among other distinguished personalities, were also present on the occasion.
The players demonstrated great enthusiasm, sporting spirit and excellent skills throughout the tournament. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest and office-bearers of the association encouraged the players and emphasized the need for continuity of such activities to promote and develop squash in the region.
