In the world of literature, some evenings are far more than mere events; they become luminous windows into memories that continue to brighten the heart and mind for a long time. One such beautiful, dignified and memorable evening was held in honour of renowned fiction writer, poet and celebrated Radio Pakistan Sargodha broadcaster Munazza Anwar Goindi.
Organized by Birmingham Poets at the residence of renowned poet Gulnaz Kausar, the literary gathering was titled “An Evening with Munazza Goindi.”
The event was a beautiful expression of love for literature, appreciation for writers and recognition of the valuable literary contributions of a talented literary figure. Dr. Saqib Nadeem, Gulnaz Kausar, Shabana Yousaf, Jim Jazal, Shehram Raza and Sarfraz Tabassum, along with several other literary personalities, attended the gathering and enriched it with their poetry and literary contributions.
The evening began with a short story by Munazza Goindi. Through her fiction, she demonstrated her distinctive creative style, profound powers of observation and remarkable ability to portray human emotions. Later, other participants presented their poetry, transforming the gathering into an enchanting literary evening where words took the form of emotions and verses touched the hearts of the audience.
The guest of honour, Munazza Goindi, captivated the gathering with her poetry, presenting Urdu poems and ghazals as well as Punjabi verses. She received warm appreciation and applause from the audience. The composure in her voice, the emotional depth of her delivery and the sensitivity of her poetry made the atmosphere even more captivating.
It seemed as though literature was not merely confined to the pages of books but was a living emotion that travelled from one heart to another through words, voice and feeling.
Another beautiful aspect of Munazza Goindi’s personality is her association with a distinguished scholarly and literary family of Sargodha. Her father, Anwar Goindi, was a respected figure in the world of Urdu literature and played an important role in promoting literary activities in Sargodha. Through the publication of Kamran Mushaira and Kamran Magazine, he made a significant contribution to Urdu literature and helped strengthen the literary identity of Sargodha.
Munazza Goindi has not merely preserved her father’s intellectual and literary legacy; she has carried it forward through her own creativity, hard work and dedication. Whether through fiction, poetry, broadcasting or literary activities, she has established a distinctive identity in various fields. This continuity proves that a true literary legacy is not preserved simply by passing on a name; it remains alive through character, creativity and continuous effort.
“An Evening with Munazza Goindi” was a beautiful reflection of this literary continuity. Held in Birmingham, the gathering also demonstrated that language, literature and creative expression have no geographical boundaries. Wherever people may settle, their language, culture, memories and literature travel with them.

What is needed is to appreciate the services of our writers, poets and artists in a timely manner and continue organizing such literary gatherings.
At the conclusion of the evening, a sumptuous dinner was served. Yet it seemed that the real feast had been the feast of words, poetry, fiction and affection—something every participant carried home in abundance.
The evening with Munazza Goindi was certainly much more than a literary event. It was a beautiful blend of Sargodha’s rich literary tradition, Birmingham’s love for literature and the mutual respect shared among people of letters—a fragrance that will linger in the memories of all who attended for a long time to come.
