Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam has highlighted the inclusion of young players in the national squad, saying around six to eight new faces represent a significant change in the team’s composition.
Speaking at a press conference, Babar pointed out that the squad features young and talented performers across all departments, including batting and bowling.
“The difference is in front of you. Almost six to eight players are new. They are all youngsters, performers and young talent,” Babar said.
He explained that the selection was made by keeping players’ performances in first-class and A-team cricket in mind, while also considering the requirements of different match situations.
Babar further clarified the roles of the selection committee and coaching staff, saying that the selectors and head coach were involved in finalising the squad.
He added that his responsibility was to bring the selected players together and help integrate them into the team.
The Pakistan captain’s comments highlight the team’s focus on fresh talent and providing opportunities to emerging performers.
