Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf says he will decide the fate of resignations, submitted by PTI lawmakers, as per rules and regulations. Talking to media in Islamabad today [Friday], he said resignations have been de-sealed and every member will individually be invited to confirm his resignation.

He said those who do not want to resign will be given due consideration. The Speaker said he is convinced that no decision should be taken beyond rules and the Constitution.

He said the tendency of floor-crossing should be discouraged.

The Speaker said a member cannot cross the floor on two counts, which include violating the party head’s decision on voting for the Prime Minister and the Finance Bill.

He said floor-crossing has been elaborated well in the Constitution.

He said the party head would write to the Speaker if any of his party member cross the floor in violation of party lines.
