Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has imposed an immediate ban on chopping of trees in forests and auctioning timber across the province.
The directive issued today stated that the traditional timber auction system has been stopped to prevent deforestation.
Furthermore, new rules will be framed using modern technology and mapping.
