The business community of Sialkot has donated financial and other relief assistance, including ration and essential items, to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the flood affected people.
A delegation of Sialkot’s business community and industrialists called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday and presented the donation.
The delegation informed the Prime Minister that the business community of Sialkot has also evolved a strategy to offer jobs to the flood affected people. It said the business community of the City of Iqbal will also play its due role in construction of houses in the flood-hit areas of the country.
Commending the business community of Sialkot’s donation, the Prime Minister said people from all walks of life will have to come forward to meet the challenges posed by the catastrophic floods. He added that the business community and industrialists have a key role in this regard. He said the devastating rains and floods have caused massive loss of lives and properties, across the country. He said the torrential floods wiped out standing crops, cattle and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister briefed the delegation that the Federal Government is providing cash assistance of 25,000 rupees to every flood affected family in a transparent manner and it has allocated 70 billion rupees for this purpose.
The delegation includes Chairman Sialkot International Airport Khawaja Masood Akhtar, President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mian Imran Akbar, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Ghazi Tractors Malik Ehtisham Ikram and other members of the business community.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif was also present in the meeting.
