Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has termed the alleviation of poverty, hunger and starvation as the topmost priority of the government.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said a comprehensive framework is being formulated to provide equal opportunities to every individual and bring the backward areas of country at par with developed ones.

Underscoring the features of 5Es for the overall uplift of society, the Minister said that the last E is specifically designed that the virtues of progress should reach to every section of society.

Highlighting the challenges being faced by Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal said we are the most vulnerable nation due to the heinous impacts of climate change as the recent flooding crippled economy of country.

He said that special focus has been given to upgrade the agriculture and water resources of the country in the federal budget for next fiscal year.

Ahsan Iqbal expressed the resolve to cure the issue of malnutrition in infants as it greatly jeopardizes the mental and physical capabilities of children.
