President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has appealed to the United Nations to play its due role in resolving the long-running Kashmir issue peacefully.

He expressed these views while talking to a well-known writer and poet, Huma Tahir who called on him in Islamabad on Saturday.

Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that the UN resolutions calling for a referendum in Kashmir were still effective and applicable.

He also expressed deep concern over the continued bloodshed and violence in the Indian-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
