The death toll after catastrophic flooding in Libya’s eastern city of Derna has climbed to 11,300.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, over 10,000 people are still missing in devastated city.
According to the UN update the flooding took an additional 170 lives outside Derna. The UN has expressed fears that these figures are likely to rise as search operation is under way.
Moreover, severe drinking water problems have gripped the city.
Meanwhile, international aid has begun to arrive in Libya after the devastating floods.
In a statement, the Libyan government said 38 planes carrying relief assistance from 17 countries have arrived in the country.
The World Health Organization has also dispatched 29 tons of aid material to Libya.
