Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja says preparations are being made to launch 5G for the promotion of digital economy.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day in Islamabad today, she said that launching of 5G will facilitate the country’s youth, creating enormous employment opportunities in IT sector.

She said that five billion rupees have been allocated for the skill development of youth.

Shaza Fatima said that government is in liaison with the manufacturers of optic fibers and working on the bolstering the volume of exports of optic fiber as country has large potential in this sector.

The Minister of State said that about thirty five companies are manufacturing mobile phones and government is also working to expand their exports.
