Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has called for joining hands in condemning and stopping the tendency of issuing religious decrees against others by individuals.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, he said the approach of making a state within the state needs to be condemned and the state should deal with such elements with iron hands.

The Minister said that a particular group attempted to impose its own will by issuing a fatwa against Supreme Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, which is an offence as per law.

He said a case has been registered in this regard and the nation will soon hear that culprits involved in this act have been arrested.

Azam Nazeer Tarar said there will be zero tolerance on the part of the state towards such acts of hatred as there is a limit to everything.

He added that the state will not allow the spreading of hatred in the name of human rights and the freedom of expression. He assured that the state will react with its full might if there is a breach of law.

He said no individual is entitled to issue a fatwa against the life or property of others.

The Minister said Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa is an upright judge and always delivered his verdicts as per law and the Shari’ah.
