The semi-final clash, held in the Chinese city of Dazhou, saw Pakistan take an early lead by scoring two goals within the first eight minutes. Abdullah opened the scoring with a penalty corner, followed by another goal from Shahbaz Hassan, doubling Pakistan’s lead.

Malaysia staged a strong comeback, netting three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead. However, Pakistan responded swiftly, with Shahbaz Hassan scoring again to level the match at 3-3. The score remained tied at the end of regulation time, sending the match into a penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Pakistan converted their first three attempts, while Malaysia missed one out of their first three, giving Pakistan a 3-2 advantage. When Pakistan missed their fourth attempt, the pressure returned. But Hanzi Ali calmly scored on Pakistan’s fifth shot to regain the lead, and goalkeeper Ghulam Mustafa made a crucial save on Malaysia’s final attempt, securing the victory for Pakistan.

With this win, Pakistan advances to the final of the U18 Hockey Asia Cup, keeping hopes alive for continental glory.
