Minister for Energy Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari says Pakistan’s first-ever Competitive Energy Market Policy will be operational within the next two months.

He was talking to a World Bank delegation led by Regional Vice President for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan Ousmane Dione in Islamabad.

Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said the transition will be implemented gradually through a comprehensive strategy to maintain system stability.

He briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s broader energy sector reforms, including net metering, privatization initiatives, regulatory enhancements and investment opportunities.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to promote private sector participation in the power sector.

Ousmane Dione reaffirmed the World Bank’s continued support to Pakistan in building a sustainable, reliable, and investment-friendly energy framework.
