Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has condemned and expressed deep regret over the disinformation campaign launched by certain media outlets to link Pakistan with Sydney incident.
Speaking to foreign media in Islamabad today, he stated that the campaign, originating from India, was deliberately designed to malign Pakistan. He emphasized that it is deeply unfortunate to target a country that has been a frontline state in the fight against terrorism and has made immense sacrifices in this regard.
He said the media should act in a responsible manner and pin the blame where it lies.
The Information Minister appreciated the Australian authorities for conducting the investigation in a professional manner despite this vicious campaign. He said that they did not cast any aspersions in this regard.
He said it is now clear that the attacker was from India and travelled on the Indian passport.
Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan stands for peace and condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Alluding to the Indian involvement in transnational assassination plots including the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, the Information Minister said there is irrefutable evidence of Indian sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan. He said India is not only funding terrorists in Pakistan but they are also behind terror attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said extremism of every kind is being promoted in India
