
The Cabinet Committee on Essential and Cash crops has said ample stocks of wheat are available to meet country’s requirements for the Food Year 2025-26.
The Committee made this observation at its meeting held in Islamabad today with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair.
The meeting deliberated on wheat crop, its stocks and means and methods to improve its per acre yield.
The data on the sowing of wheat crop for Rabi 2025-26 was also shared by the provinces which was found in-line with assigned targets, due to the timely introduction of the Interim National Wheat Policy 2025-26, which has generated positive sentiment and confidence among the farming community.
On the occasion, Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction over the smooth availability of certified seed and key inputs, and appreciated collective efforts towards wheat self-sufficiency.
He urged all stakeholders to focus on areas through wheat varieties and underscored sustained federal & provincial coordination to ensure national food security in the coming years.
