
A briefing session was held in Islamabad on Monday with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in the chair to oversee preparations in context of the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit, to attend 56th annual meeting of World Economic Forum in Switzerland next month.
The Foreign Secretary and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to Geneva along with senior officials briefed Ishaq Dar about the preparations, tentative program and agenda of the WEF.
The bilateral component related to the visit and extensive media engagements during the visit were also discussed in detail.
Ishaq Dar instructed to maximize the engagements with the incoming Heads of States, Governments and senior leadership of economic, business and financial institutions. He further stressed that opportunities be explored to foster collaboration with private sector business entities.
Forum’s annual meeting is being held in Davos-Klosters from 19th to 23rd of the next month under the theme of ‘A Spirit of Dialogue.’
Gilani calls upon nation to follow vision of Quaid-e-Azam
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has called upon the nation to fully follow the ideals and vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to build an inclusive and prosperous Pakistan.
He was addressing an event in connection with the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad today.
The Chairman emphasized that Quaid-e-Azam envisioned Pakistan as a modern democratic state based on the principles of equality, justice and the rule of law.
He said Quaid-e-Azam was not only founder of Pakistan but he was also symbol of principled leadership, constitutionalism and moral courage. He said that the founding father’s principles remain as relevant now as they were at the time of Pakistan’s creation. He said his political journey was shaped by constitutionalism and democratic principles.
The Chairman Senate emphasized that those entrusted with authority must place national interest above personal considerations. He said institutions must function with transparency and integrity, and that our youth must commit themselves to learning discipline and service to the nation.
