Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says privatization of loss making state-owned enterprises is one of the top most priorities of the government.

He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad today on matters related to Privatization Commission.

The Prime Minister said successful privatization of 75 percent shares of PIA is the first step in this regard.

He directed the officials concerned to work on digitization of Privatization Commission and accelerate the reforms process in the Commission.

The Prime Minister directed that relevant manpower with the best capabilities from private sector and market should be appointed in the Privatization Commission and all appointments be made in a transparent manner.

He also directed for a third-party audit of the Privatization Commission’s projects by an international standard firm.

The Prime Minister also directed for further improving the public relations and marketing department of the Privatization Commission.

The meeting was informed that privatization of power distribution companies will be done in two phases.

In the first phase, the privatization of Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Gujranwala Electric Power Company and Faisalabad Electric Power Company will be done.

In the second phase, the privatization of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company and Sukkur Electric Power Company will be done.
