
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said facilitating access to credit for the private sector particularly SMEs and small farmers for the acquisition of modern technology is among the government’s top priorities.
He was chairing a high-level meeting on loans to SMEs and Agri-Sector in Islamabad today.
The Prime Minister said the State Bank should take measures to further simplify the procedures through which commercial banks provide loans to SMEs and the agricultural sector.
He emphasized that credit should be provided on a priority basis to service providers to promote innovation in the agricultural sector.
He instructed Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar, along with the SMEDA team, to visit all provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK and formulate a comprehensive policy to facilitate small and medium-sized businesses.
The Prime Minister directed that youth should be provided with entrepreneurship training so that new businesses can be launched and economic activity can be increased in the country.
