The Senate today passed a resolution, strongly condemning Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent statement regarding Israel’s intention to forge a regional alliance comprising India and other countries against Muslim nations.
The resolution moved by Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan took a strong exception to the vile proclivity of Israeli leadership towards diminishing the unity and integrity of the Muslim Ummah on political and ideological grounds.
The House condemned the Israeli occupying forces’ continued violation to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and its blatant disregard of international law, the UN charter, relevant UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions as well as the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The House rejected any attempt by the Israeli occupying power to change the legal or historical status of the occupied Palestinian territory, including the status of the holy sites.
The resolution deplored continued provocative steps and statements by the leadership of Israel that threaten the regional and international peace and stability, including the latest statement that expresses its intention to forge so-called alliances against Muslim nations.
The resolution also denounced any attempts by Israel to undermine the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of brotherly Islamic countries and rejected in this regard the announcement made by Israel recognising the independence of the so-called Somaliland region of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The House urged the international community to end Israeli impunity and hold it accountable for its crimes against humanity as well as its provocative actions that pose a threat to all regional countries.
It demanded full Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories, increased sustained and unimpeded humanitarian assistance to the beleaguered Palestinians in Gaza, including through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, as well as an early start of the recovery and reconstruction process in Gaza.
The House reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic and unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent, viable and contiguous state of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds al-Sharif as its capital.
Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Syed Imran Ahmad Shah told the House during question hour that a comprehensive and multi-layered framework is in place to ensure transparency in the utilization of the funds of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM).
He informed that all financial receipts and expenditures are processed strictly in accordance with approved rules and government accounting procedures.
He said Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal operates a dedicated internal audit wing to regularly scrutinize financial transactions, while its accounts are also subject to annual external audit by the Auditor General of Pakistan.
The Minister for Poverty Alleviation said Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal is further enhancing transparency through computerized record keeping and digital documentation systems, while disciplinary and legal actions are initiated in cases of irregularities or misuse.
Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja told the house that Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has blocked more than one million URLs containing immoral and indecent content. She said the PTA has also blocked 5,175 websites containing child sexual abuse material. She said the authority has also undertaken multiple public awareness initiatives to promote safer internet usage among children.
Responding to a calling attention notice, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said the best international practices are being implemented to reduce accidents on highways and motorways. He said the measures being taken include the cancellation of driving licenses, confiscation of vehicles and increased fines for over-speeding to ensure stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
In response to the points raised by Leader of the Opposition Raja Nasir Abbas, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said the government has complied with the Supreme Court’s directives regarding the medical treatment of the PTI founding chairman.
He emphasized that the medical reports of the PTI founding chairman are satisfactory, and there are no health concerns or emergency.
