Pakistan calls for balanced climate action, enhanced finance

Pakistan has called for Balanced Climate Action and Enhanced Finance at COP-31.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said Pakistan will extend full and constructive support to the incoming COP-31 leadership and stressed that Antalya Conference must deliver balanced progress.

He said Pakistan in on the frontlines of the climate crisis and country contributes less than one percent of global emissions but faces some of the most severe impacts.

He emphasized that meaningful progress in Antalya will require trust and balance across all pillars of climate action.

Asim Iftikhar Ahmad expressed concern over recent negative trends in climate finance and underscored that scaled up support remains essential for vulnerable developing countries to adapt and respond to climate impacts.
