Radio Pakistan Sargodha broadcast a special episode of its popular public awareness program, “Shaheen Sargodha,” focusing on child protection, children’s rights, and welfare. The program was hosted by Sabtain Baloch, while the special guest was Syed Ali Abid Naqvi, District Officer of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, Sargodha.

During the program, detailed discussions were held regarding the objectives of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau Punjab, children’s fundamental rights, and the services provided by the institution for their protection and well-being. Syed Ali Abid Naqvi explained that the primary mission of the Bureau is to provide protection, shelter, education, healthcare, and rehabilitation services to vulnerable children, including those who are homeless, missing, victims of exploitation or abuse, and children involved in begging, enabling them to lead safe and dignified lives.

The discussion also highlighted issues such as physical, emotional, and psychological abuse of children, forced begging, and the role of society in preventing such problems. He emphasized that child protection is not solely the responsibility of government institutions but a shared responsibility of the entire community. Every individual should remain vigilant and report cases involving children who may be suffering from exploitation, abuse, or neglect.

The program also underscored the crucial role of parents in ensuring children’s safety and well-being. Syed Ali Abid Naqvi urged parents to build friendly and trust-based relationships with their children, listen attentively to their concerns, and maintain effective communication so that children feel comfortable reporting any unpleasant or threatening situations. He further stressed the importance of educating children about “good touch” and “bad touch” to help protect them from potential risks and abuse.
Special attention was drawn to the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau’s 1121 helpline. He informed listeners that the free helpline operates 24 hours a day and allows citizens to report incidents involving child abuse, violence, exploitation, forced begging, or other related concerns. He appealed to the public not to remain silent spectators but to report such incidents immediately so that timely action can be taken.

At the conclusion of the program, a commitment was reaffirmed that Radio Pakistan Sargodha’s “Shaheen Sargodha” program will continue to broadcast informative content aimed at raising public awareness, promoting social responsibility, and addressing community issues, thereby providing citizens with valuable information and guidance.

The program was produced by Jamshed Qadri, with Zeeshan Afzal serving as the Studio Engineer and Fariha Kanwal as the Executive Producer.
