Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has directed the authorities to submit a report on the restoration of train services that were suspended from Sargodha to various cities, saying he will soon visit Sargodha and personally inaugurate the revived train service for the people.
He made these remarks during a meeting with Punjab Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Member of the National Assembly Iram Hamid Hameed, and former Minister of State Chaudhry Hamid Hameed.
Hanif Abbasi said the government is committed to restoring train services from Sargodha to Karachi, Multan, and Lahore during its tenure. He added that a detailed report has already been sought to facilitate the revival of these routes on a priority basis.
The Railways Minister further stated that he would soon visit Sargodha and, along with Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, formally inaugurate the restored train service for the residents of the region.
He also revealed that Pakistan Railways has ordered additional passenger coaches and locomotives, which are expected to arrive in Pakistan soon. Once they are delivered, new train services will be launched. He emphasized that his top priority is the restoration of the Super Express service between Sargodha and Karachi.
On the occasion, MNA Iram Hamid Hameed and former Minister of State Chaudhry Hamid Hameed informed the Federal Minister that Sargodha once had as many as 26 train services connecting it with different cities across the country. However, only five trains are currently operating, which is insufficient for the growing population and increasing travel demand.
Hanif Abbasi assured them that train services that can feasibly be restored will be revived on a priority basis in light of public needs and the proposals presented, ensuring improved travel facilities for the people of Sargodha.
