Sargodha’s daughter, Fatima Zahra, has created history with a remarkable performance at the Commonwealth Games boxing competition in Glasgow.
Competing in the Women’s 60kg category, Fatima Zahra defeated New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson in a one-sided quarterfinal bout to book her place in the semifinals. With this victory, she has guaranteed Pakistan’s first medal of the tournament.
Her achievement is historic in several respects, as she has become the first Pakistani woman boxer to win a medal in boxing at the Commonwealth Games.
