The Asian Netball Championship 2026 continued in Hong Kong on Monday, where Pakistan suffered their first defeat of the tournament, going down 66-48 to Thailand in their second Plate Division match.
Having opened their campaign with a commanding 58-34 win over Japan, Pakistan were unable to carry that momentum into their second outing against a well-organised Thailand side. Thailand controlled large stretches of the match, combining accurate shooting, disciplined passing, and strong defensive play to keep Pakistan under pressure throughout. The Pakistani players fought hard and produced several promising passages of play, but were unable to match Thailand’s consistency in the crucial moments, eventually going down by an 18-goal margin.
The result leaves Pakistan with plenty to work on ahead of their next fixture, particularly in maintaining possession and converting scoring opportunities into points. The team will now look to put the defeat behind them and respond strongly in their third match of the tournament.
Pakistan will next face South Korea on Tuesday, August 11, with the match scheduled to begin at 8:00 am Pakistan Standard Time.
The Asian Netball Championship 2026 is being held in Hong Kong from August 8 to 15, organised by Netball Hong Kong, and features leading women’s netball teams from across the region competing across the Cup and Plate Divisions.
