A special program was organized on the popular FM 101 show “Shaheen Sargodha” of Radio Pakistan Sargodha in connection with World Environment Day. The objective of the program was to promote environmental protection, highlight the growing challenges of climate change, and raise public awareness about environmental issues.

Dr. Syed Haroon Ali, Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Sargodha, participated as the chief guest. He is also associated with the Central Research Laboratory and the Interdisciplinary Research Center for One Health. Dr. Haroon is actively engaged in research related to environmental studies, water resources, climate change, and sustainable development.

Muhammad Rana, Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Department, Sargodha, also attended the program as a guest. He provided a detailed overview of environmental laws, pollution control measures, and the initiatives being undertaken by the government to protect the environment.

During the program, detailed discussions were held on a wide range of important topics, including the significance of World Environment Day, the impacts of climate change, environmental challenges facing the Sargodha region, the condition of groundwater resources, water conservation, the importance of afforestation, air pollution and its effects on human health, measures to reduce plastic pollution, the impact of climate change on agricultural areas, biodiversity conservation, the efficient use of natural resources, and waste management.

The guests emphasized that promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle is the need of the hour and that every individual can play an effective role in environmental protection by making small but positive changes in daily life. Various aspects of disaster management, community resilience, and sustainable development were also discussed.

The participants appreciated the role of Radio Pakistan in raising awareness about environmental and public issues, stating that the national institution is making significant contributions toward public education and the promotion of positive social values.
The program was hosted by Sabtain Baloch, while Muhammad Jamshed Qadri performed duties as producer. Fariha Kanwal served as the Executive Producer, and engineering support was provided by Rana Qaiser Waqas.
