A special awareness dialogue on Road Safety and Traffic Awareness was organized in the popular FM 101 program “Shaheen Sargodha” of Radio Pakistan Sargodha in collaboration with the National Highways and Motorway Police. The objective of the program was to promote awareness among citizens regarding safe travel, compliance with traffic laws, and responsible driving practices.

The program featured DSP Fahad Ajmal, Inspector Zulfiqar Ali, Inspector Imran Tabassum, and Sub-Inspector Faryal Ali as guest speakers. During the discussion, they provided detailed information about the principles of safe travel on national highways and motorways, the importance of traffic regulations, and measures to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
The guests highlighted the importance of wearing seat belts while traveling, the dangers of drowsiness and fatigue during driving, precautionary measures during rain and adverse weather conditions, lane discipline, speed limits, overloading, and the risks associated with carrying passengers beyond a vehicle’s capacity. They emphasized that adherence to traffic laws is essential for preventing accidents and ensuring safe journeys.

Special attention was also given to vehicle maintenance during the summer season. The speakers stressed the importance of proper tire care, maintaining appropriate tire pressure, and conducting a complete vehicle inspection before undertaking long-distance travel.

Participants were informed that the National Highways and Motorway Police Helpline 130 is available around the clock to assist the public in emergencies, provide guidance, and address complaints.

During the session, the guests also explained the Motorway Police’s P.O.W.E.R. Formula, which is based on the fundamental principles of safe driving. In addition, they highlighted the significance of observing speed limits on motorways and national highways and the role of enforcement in ensuring road safety.

The speakers further explained the different categories of traffic signs and road signals, noting that triangular signs are used as warning signs, circular signs indicate regulations and restrictions, while rectangular or square signs provide information and guidance to road users.

The dialogue emphasized that road safety is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies but a shared responsibility of every citizen. Participants were urged to strictly follow all safety measures and traffic regulations while traveling to help protect valuable human lives.
