A meeting of the District Quality Control Board was held at the Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Khushab, Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar. CEO Health Nabeel Saleem, Drug Controller Anwar Arshad, Drug Inspector Amir Hafeez, Drug Inspector Naushera Hafiz Muhammad Imran, Quality Drug Control Secretary Ahmed Khan, and officers of the relevant departments attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Drug Inspectors from Khushab, Tehsil Naushera, and other tehsils of the district briefed the Deputy Commissioner on action taken against medical stores and pharmacies. Various cases were presented before the District Quality Control Board for consideration.
After hearing the pharmacy owners and conducting a detailed review of the relevant records, the Deputy Commissioner approved six cases for referral to the Drug Court, while seven parties were issued warnings in other cases. One absent party was summoned again, and the next hearing of the case was scheduled.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar directed the Drug Controller and relevant officers to continue indiscriminate action against illegally operating medical stores, warehouses, companies, and pharmacies involved in the sale of expired or substandard medicines.
He made it clear that no leniency would be shown to those putting human lives at risk, and that no recommendation or pressure would be entertained. He further directed the relevant officers to ensure strict compliance with laws governing the quality, availability, and sale of medicines so that citizens could have access to safe and quality medicines.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that strict legal action would be taken against those violating laws related to public health and that such elements would be brought to justice.
