Pakistan’s proud son, Malik Abeer Wahid Jasra, has achieved a distinctive international honour by successfully completing the 21.1-kilometre Warrington Running Festival Half Marathon held in Warrington, United Kingdom, bringing recognition to Pakistan at the international level.
People from various social and public circles have congratulated Abeer Wahid Jasra and expressed their best wishes for his future achievements.
Abeer Wahid Jasra belongs to Pilowains village in District Khushab and is a member of the well-known and respected Jasra family, a prominent landowning family of the area. He is the son of Dr. Malik Abdul Wahid Jasra, former Country Director of the United Nations, and the brother of Malik Shehir Wahid Jasra, a renowned and popular social figure based in Islamabad.
Half-marathon races have a long-standing tradition in Warrington. The English half marathon was launched in 2009 and, over the years, has become one of the city’s prominent annual sporting events.
Speaking about his achievement, Abeer Wahid Jasra said that his objective in completing the race was not merely to achieve personal success, but also to encourage the youth and people of Pilowains and District Khushab to adopt exercise and physical activity.
He said his message was that everyone should recognise their abilities and make efforts to bring their potential to the forefront. Regular exercise, he added, not only improves physical health but also has a positive impact on everyday life, mental strength, discipline and overall well-being.
He further said that he particularly wanted young people to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, set new goals for themselves and not be afraid to challenge themselves. A strong body and a strong mind help a person progress in other areas of life as well.
“If my effort inspires even one young person from Pilowains or District Khushab to run, exercise or pay greater attention to their health, that would be the most beautiful outcome of this achievement,” he said.
